Former Indian cricketer Nayan Mongia sees a resemblance between Mujeeb-ur-Rahman and the fourth-highest wicket-taker in history, Anil Kumble. Talking on Star Sports, Mongia says that Mujeeb is a master of bowling in the three-stump line, just like Anil Kumble.
“He doesn’t leave the three-stump line. Mujeeb-ur-Rahman reminds me of Anil Kumble, who was a master of bowling in the three-stump line. When Kumble wanted to bowl a googly, he slowed down his pace. Mujeeb is like him.”
Mujeeb-ur-Rahman showed off another great performance against Uganda in Afghanistan’s humongous 125-run win. Batting first, Afghanistan had put forth a score of 183 in the power of Rahmanullah Gurbaz’s (76) and Ibrahim Zadran’s (70) half-centuries. Chasing that, Uganda’s batters fumbled and tumbled into the canvas pretty soon, thanks to the swashbuckling performance of Fazalhaq Farooqi, who clinched 5 wickets at the expense of just 9 runs. Mujeeb-ur-Rahman also contributed by taking a wicket in an economy of 5.33.
