Which Players Have Played All T20 WC So Far: We are just a day away from the ninth edition of the T20 World Cup. The tournament then called the World T20, was conceived all the way back in 2007, with India winning the first-ever rendition.
Since then, we have had eight T20 World Cups and six T20 World Champions. The most recent tournament, played in 2022, was won by England.
The T20 World Cup has been a part of the international cricket schedule for 17 years, with the game evolving into something very different now.
Since the time the T20 World Cup has been a thing, hundreds of players have retired from the game, and many more have made their international debut. The route to the national team now goes through the nation’s T20 league, with the IPL having led to dozens of players making their debuts for India.
But in all the time that the T20 World Cup has been a thing and how much the game has changed in that time, two players have surprisingly played every edition of the tournament so far, and they will be a part of the 2024 tournament as well.
Which Players Have Played All T20 WC So Far
The first name on this incredibly short list is Indian captain Rohit Sharma, who played his first ICC tournament in 2007, winning the World T20 with India. Rohit, who was just 20 years old back then, showed off his unlimited potential in that tournament. He scored a solid 50 against South Africa in a crucial contest and an unbeaten 30 in the final against Pakistan.

In the next two tournaments, he did have a few solid performances, but Rohit failed to be consistent in 2009 and 2010. The story was the same in 2012.
By the time the 2014 T20 World Cup rolled around, Rohit had become an integral part of India’s limited-overs squad. Having won an IPL as the captain of the Mumbai Indians and scored a double-century in ODIs by this point, he scored two fantastic 50s in this tournament as India ended as the runner-up.
While the 2016 T20 World Cup was not the best for him, he had become one of the most important players in the squad by 2021. And though he played a few good innings in that tournament, his 2021 World Cup was defined by his disappointing duck against Pakistan.
In the 2022 tournament, Rohit Sharma entered as the India captain and took the team to the semifinals. This year, he will be looking to take the team two steps further in what might end up being his last T20 World Cup.

The second and final player on the list of players who have appeared in every T20 World Cup so far is Bangladesh’s Shakib Al Hasan.
In 2007, Shakib played his first World Cup, the ODI World Cup that year, where Bangladesh defeated India and made it to the second round of the tournament. That year was also good for the Bangla Tigers in the t20s, as they made it to the second round of the T20 World Cup.
In 2009 and 2010, Shakib established himself as one of the best all-rounders in world cricket. But it was the 2012 tournament where he played his best innings in the T20 World Cup, with a massive effort of 84 runs against Pakistan in a losing cause.
Since then, although Bangladesh has been better than teams like Ireland and the Netherlands, which are close to them in international cricket, they have not done too well against bigger teams.
Despite that, Shakib has consistently been Bangladesh’s best player. In fact, he is the highest wicket-taker in the history of the tournament, with 47 scalps in 36 matches.
In 2024, Rohit Sharma and Shakib Al Hasan, at the age of 37, will play in their ninth T20 World Cup. Surprisingly, they will be a massive part of their squads and will play a big role in any success their team has.
The 2024 T20 World Cup will commence on June 2 (IST) in the USA and the West Indies when co-host the United States will take on Canada in the Grand Prairie Stadium in Dallas, Texas.
