Michael Vaughan Speculates Virat Kohli Retirement: Former England cricket team captain Michael Vaughan suggested that Virat Kohli might be pondering retirement to focus on his family life in peace.
Kohli has been the greatest batsman in world cricket for about a decade now. Not only does he have the most runs and a bucket-full of records to his name, but his ability to dig teams out of lost causes makes him the most clutch player in cricket.
Despite being the best batter in the world for the past 10 years, Virat has yet to win a single major trophy in the past decade. Most recently, for India, Kohli and the national team lost to Australia in the 2023 ODI World Cup. India also lost the World Test Championship final earlier that year to the same foes.

The 35-year-old has also not won an IPL trophy with the Royal Challengers Bengaluru in his 17-season-long career in the league. His most recent failure to lift the IPL trophy came when his RCB side lost to the Rajasthan Royals in the Eliminator of the IPL 2024.
Following the World Cup last year, Virat Kohli took a much-needed break from cricket. He lived in London for a few months, away from the fixture congestion of cricket games.
Michael Vaughan Speculates Virat Kohli Retirement
Michael Vaughan recently spoke to Cricbuzz about how Virat Kohli might look to retire from cricket in the very near future. Kohli has two very young children, and spending more time with them does not seem like a bad choice after years and seasons of heartbreak.
“During his time away from the India vs. England Test series, I believe he went to London and led a normal life. I’ve read a few of his comments and quotes, and he just absolutely adored that normal life. I think that may take Virat away from cricket like he just wants to go and have a quiet time for a while,” said Vaughan.
Virat Kohli ended the 2024 season of the IPL as its highest run scorer with 741 runs, an average of 61, and a strike rate of 154. Despite not playing any more games, he will likely end up with the Orange Cap for the season.
