Aakash Chopra Feels Rohit Sharma Is Done With MI: Former Indian cricketer and now commentator Aakash Chopra believes that we have seen the last of Rohit Sharma in the Mumbai Indians jersey and suggests which players the franchise should retain ahead of the 2025 mega-auction.
After a decade of captaining MI and winning five IPL titles with the franchise, Rohit was unceremoniously replaced as the team captain by a returning Hardik Pandya.
To be fair to the MI leadership, since leaving the Indians in 2022, Hardik has won an IPL and finished runner-up in the other as the Gujarat Titans captain. In the same time span, MI finished 10th and third in the two IPLs under Sharma.

But it all went down the drain for MI this season. Under Hardik, not only did most of the team fail to perform consistently throughout the year, resulting in the team finishing at the bottom of the table, but the fans also turned on the team and new captain Pandya.
As per Aakash Chopra Feels Rohit Sharma Is Done With MI, Rohit, who was one of the team’s best batters this season but who failed to fire in the second half of the season, is reported to have been unhappy with his place in the team. Reports emerged that he, along with some senior players, complained about Hardik’s captaincy to the team owners.

Aakash Chopra, who discussed the plight and future of the Mumbai Indians on his YouTube channel, reckoned that the 27-year-old Sharma might not return to the Mumbai Indians next season, saying:
“I think Rohit Sharma has played his last match for the Mumbai Indians, whether he doesn’t want to be retained or the franchise lets him go. Either way, I see them parting ways. I don’t think you will be seeing Rohit Sharma in the Mumbai Indians jersey again. That’s just my understanding. I might be wrong, but I feel, either way, Rohit Sharma will not be playing for the Mumbai Indians when you start the next season.”
In the same video, Chopra also discussed which players MI will likely retain ahead of what will likely be a mega-auction in 2025. He named Suryakumar Yadav, Jastpri Bumrah, Tilak Varma, and captain Hardik Pandya as the players who might be retained for next season. These players will provide a solid Indian base for the Mumbai Indians, upon which they can create a new team.
