Who Will Be Real Madrid Goalkeeper In UCL Final: Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti recently discussed a major dilemma he has on his hands ahead of the UEFA Champions League final against Borussia Dortmund.
Los Blancos have had a fantastic 2023/24 season. They won La Liga after coming in second last season. In the Champions League, they defeated defending Champions Manchester City in the quarterfinals and are now in the final.
Thibaut Courtois has been a rock in front of goal for Real Madrid for a few seasons now. He played a major role in winning the UEFA Champions League in 2021/22.
At the start of this season, in August 2023, the Belgian had a cruciate ligament tear in his knee, which forced him out of action for over eight months. While recovering from the injury, he suffered another meniscus tear in March 2024, which kept him out for another month or so.

In Thibaut Courtois’ absence, Ukrainian goalkeeper Andriy Lunin has been fantastic for Madrid this season. The 25-year-old has proven himself to be a world-class keeper who can keep up with the best in the world.

In a recent press conference, Ancelotti was questioned about his choice of goalkeeper in the upcoming final, to which the legendary manager had this to say,
“The goalkeeper in the final? It’s a difficult choice because Lunin has had a fantastic season and Courtois is Courtois. I will decide before the game.”
Real Madrid will take on Borussia Dortmund in the final of the 2023/24 UEFA Champions League on June 2 (IST) and will be looking to win the prestigious tournament for a whopping 15th time.
