A poster recently went viral on social media. A woman brought a poster to KKR’s most recent washed game against the Gujarat Titans, which read, “I will not propose my crush until Gautam Gambhir smiles.”
Taking up the challenge, the former IPl-winning KKR captain took to Instagram to post a picture of the poster alongside one of himself smiling, with the captain reading, “Here you go!”
The Lok Sabha MP from the East Delhi constituency has seemingly left his short stint in politics behind, as he will not be competing in the ongoing general elections. Instead, his complete focus is once again on cricket.
He became the mentor of the Lucknow Super Giants when the franchise was founded in 2022. For the two seasons he was with LSG, the team made it to the playoffs.
Ahead of the 2024 season, Gambhir returned to the franchise, where he won two IPL trophies as captain of the Knight Riders. His influence is clear to see for all, with the team currently at the top of the league table with 19 points in 13 games and having ensured a top-two finish.
The Sgreyas Iyer-led team will face the second-placed Rajasthan Royals in their last game of the league stage, which will also be the last IPL 2024 game before the playoffs, on May 19 in Guwahati’s Barsapara Stadium.
