CSK vs RR Match Highlights And Report-IPL: The Chennai Super Kings and their fans would have let out a huge sigh of relief as Ruturaj Gaikwad’s team bounced back from the 35-run loss against Gujarat Titans to defeat Sanju Samson’s Rajasthan Royals by 5 wickets at Chepauk in the afternoon game on Sunday. RR, on the other hand, have now lost three matches in a row after losing only one in their first nine.
Although it was a typical slow Chepauk surface, this time it was not the spinners but a pacer, Simarjeet Singh, who returned with a match-winning performance. Simarjeet was smoked for 60 runs against GT two nights ago but found himself at home on a slow surface with his hard lengths, dismissing RR’s top three.

Samson won the toss and elected to bat first. RR were slow to get off the blocks—only 7 runs in the first two overs—as Jaiswal and Buttler assessed the surface. A few boundaries came in the next four overs, but a powerplay score of 42/0 wasn’t RR-esque.
Simarjeet was introduced in the 7th over and got both RR openers in the first 7 legal balls he sent down. Jaiswal top-edged his pull, and Buttler miscued his scoop straight to fine leg. Jadeja, Thakur, and Theekshana applied the choke before Simarjeet returned to dismiss Samson, caught at mid-off.
RR were 94/3 at the 15-over mark. It was only through some lusty blows from Riyan Parag, who scored 47 (35) with three sixes, and Dhruv Jurel, who scored 28 (18), that RR managed to reach 141.

Unlike RR, CSK openers were proactive as Rachin Ravindra flicked Sandeep for a six in the second over before he went after compatriot Trent Boult for a four and a six. Rachin, though, gave a return catch to R Ashwin, but his 27 (18) had gotten CSK moving in the chase.
While Gaikwad didn’t get much strike, Daryl Mitchell spanked four boundaries to take CSK to 56/1 at the end of the powerplay. Gaikwad brought a majestic pull against Nandre Burger, but at the other end, Mitchell was dismissed by Chahal.
Such manageable was the target that Gaikwad could easily anchor and play at almost run-a-ball while others around him looked for big shots. The CSK captain remained not out till the end, scoring 42 (41), with Shivam Dube whacking 18 (11) and Sameer Rizvi walloping three fours in his 15* (8).
Score summary: Rajasthan Royals 141/5 in 20 overs (Riyan Parag 47, Simarjeet Singh 3/26); Chennai Super Kings 145/5 in 18.2 overs (Ruturaj Gaikwad 42, Ravichandran Ashwin 2/35). CSK defeated RR by 5 wickets.
