Shubman Gill Century celebration vs CSK: Gujarat Titans captain and opener Shubman Gill recorded his fourth IPL century, and his opening partner Sai Sudharsan notched up his maiden IPL ton on Friday at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad against Chennai Super Kings.
The opening pair recorded the joint-highest opening partnership in IPL history and the third-highest overall score of 210 runs. It helped Gujarat post 231 runs, which proved to be 35 runs more than what CSK could manage. With this victory, GT remained alive in the playoff race; they have 10 points in 12 games.
Gill hadn’t had a big score in his last five outings before this game. In a must-win encounter against Ruturaj Gaikwad’s side, Gill scored 104 runs in 55 balls with the help of 9 fours and 6 sixes. Sudharsan scored 103 runs in 51 balls by cracking 5 fours and 7 sixes.
Mohit Sharma broke the game with the ball for GT with the wickets of half-centurions Daryl Mitchell and Moeen Ali before sending Shivam Dube to the dressing room.

Shubman Gill’s century celebration against CSK has gone viral. The GT skipper reached his hundred with a pull shot boundary against pacer Simarjeet Singh. After reaching the landmark figure, Gill, who has been excluded from India’s 15-man squad for the T20 World Cup, let out his emotions. He jumped high in the air before letting out a huge roar. His lips can be read screaming, “Fu** off.”

While Sai Sudharsan finished with a higher strike rate than Gill and scored a similar number of runs, Gill was adjudged the Player of the Match for his high-tempo batting in the powerplay when his opening partner took his time to settle first. Gill’s aggressive approach in this innings was a point to prove to the selectors that he could bat in a fearless manner.
Speaking about batting with Sudharsan, Shubman Gill said, “When we were batting out there, we didn’t have any targets in mind. We were just maximizing the opportunities in front of us. We have a good camaraderie between us. Even last year, we batted a lot together. Lots of fun batting with him.”
