Kohli Talks About Self-Respect and Strike Rate: Virat Kohli continued his stupendous form in the IPL by scoring another brilliant knock. His 47-ball 94 gave RCB a massive 60-run win that will be crucial for their play-off race. This won him the Player of the Match award.
The current orange cap holder now has 634 runs from 12 innings averaging 70.4 per game.
Kohli Talks About Self-Respect and Strike Rate
Kohli said in the post-match presentation that he understands his game at this stage of his career. The legendary batter prefers quality batting over quantity.
“I still prefer quality over quantity. I understand my game at this stage of my career. I am still trying to improve my game. I brought out the slog sweep to the spinners. I know I can hit it as I have done it in the past,” said Kohli
He also discussed the elephant in the room: the strike rate. Virat thinks taking more risks is the way to improve the strike rate in the middle overs.
“I need to take more risk to improve my strike rate in the middle overs. We were not good enough in the first half of the tournament. We had stopped looking at the points table and were playing for our self-respect. Make yourself proud and play for fans,” he continued.
RCB have won the last 4 matches in a row and rose up to 7th from being the table bottomers. For them to qualify for the playoffs, winning the rest of the games is a must. But that isn’t enough. They will also have to rely on other results.
“We need to raise our level. If we had done it earlier, we would have been in a better position instead of relying on various factors,” Kohli added.
