Aakash Chopra Backs KL Rahul Against RR: Former Indian cricketer and now broadcaster Aakash Chopra has backed Lucknow Super Giants KL Rahul to perform well in his team’s most recent match against the Rajasthan Royals.
LSG will take on RR in Lucknow’s Ekana Stadium in Match 44 of IPL 2024, in what will be a battle between two teams in the top four. Royals are on top of the IPL points table with 14 points in just eight matches and will be eyeing a top-two finish.
On the other hand, the Super Giants are fourth on the table with 10 points in eight matches and will be looking for playoff qualification for a third season in a row.
LSG is coming off two consecutive wins against Chennai Super Kings. Their last match saw the Lucknow-based franchise chase down the largest target in Chennai’s MA Chidambaram Stadium when they won while chasing 211 runs on the back of a splendid century by Marcus Stoinis.
RR, on the other hand, is coming off a comfortable win over a struggling Mumbai Indians. The Royals had a centurion in their last game as well, with Yashasvi Jaiswal finally arriving at the party with a match-winning ton.
Aakash Chopra Backs KL Rahul Against RR
Aakash Chopra, who can be heard commentating on IPL matches at JioCinema, recently previewed this game on his YouTube channel. When discussing players to look out for in this contest, he named LSG captain KL Rahul, backing him to have a fine outing at Ekana.
“Since he failed in the last match, let’s focus on Rahul. There will be a slight danger from Trent Boult, but after that, Sandeep Sharma and Avesh Khan. As good as everyone is, you can actually back KL Rahul to do well,” said Chopra.
KL Rahul did fail in the last match, the historic win over CSK, as he only managed to score 16 runs in 14 balls.
Despite that, Rahul has been the highest run scorer for the Super Giants in IPL 2024, having scored 302 runs in eight matches with an average of 37 and a strike rate of 141. He is currently 13th in the Orange Cap race.
As for LSG, they will face RR for the second time this season tonight. The last time these two teams faced off was at Jaipur’s Sawai Mansingh Stadium. On that occasion, RR defeated LSG by 20 runs.
