Irfan Pathan On Virat Kohli Vs Pat Cummins: Former Indian cricketer Irfan Pathan believes that Pat Cummins has a way of silencing Virat Kohli following Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s recent match against Sunrisers Hyderabad.
RCB took on SRH in Match 41 of IPL 2024. While batting first, RCB put up 206 runs due to half-centuries by Kohli and Rajat Patidar. However, Virat’s 51 came off 43 balls, giving him a strike rate of 118.6.
In the past year, it seems that Pat Cummins has had Virat Kohli’s number. As the captain of Australia across all formats, Cummins first defeated India in the World Test Championship final, where Kohli couldn’t even score a 50 in his two innings.

Then, in the final of the 2023 ODI World Cup, Kohli was dismissed by Pat at 54. India went on to lose that match by six wickets.
Suffice it to say that Pat Cummins has had a good year against Virat Kohli. Even yesterday, it was the Aussie and SRH captain who dismissed Virat.
Irfan Pathan On Virat Kohli Vs Pat Cummins
While RCB did win against SRH in their most recent match, Irfan Pathan praised Pat Cummins following the match, claiming Kohli is finding it difficult to deal with the 30-year-old.
“Virat once again failed in front of Pat Cummins. He had no answers to Hyderabad’s captain’s brilliance. Pat is using variations to stop Virat from scoring runs. Other bowlers have also been made aware of the plans not to allow Virat to break free. They bowled into the pitch and gave no room or pace to the batter,” he said.
Pathan further went on to explain what Pat Cummins does while bowling to King Kohli that makes him so successful against him, explaining,
“The deliveries were kept away from his hitting arc, forcing the batter to try something different. All in all, Cummins had his plans ready for the star player and executed them perfectly.”
As stated earlier, SRH went on to lose the match. Chasing a target of 207 runs, the Sunrisers collapsed and finished on 171/8, thus losing against the bottom-of-the-table side.
RCB, despite the win, is still the wooden spoon team of the tournament with two wins in nine matches. They will face the Gujarat Titans in their next match on April 28 in Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium.
