Rishabh Pant Replies to Critics: Delhi Capitals captain Rishabh Pant looked at his supreme best in his match-winning knock of 88* off 43 balls against Gujarat Titans on Wednesday evening at the Arun Jaitley Stadium.
DC and GT played out a last-ball thriller in which the hosts prevailed by only four runs, with pacer Mukesh Kumar keeping his cool on the last ball against Rashid Khan.
Earlier, Pant blasted 88 runs in 43 balls (strike rate of 204). In his blockbuster knock, the left-hander smoked 5 fours and 8 sixes. This assault from Pant meant that Mohit Sharma, GT’s death-over specialist pacer, ended with the worst bowling figures in IPL history, 0/73.
After DC were 44/3, Pant formed two jaw-dropping partnerships: 113 (68) with Axar Patel and 67* (18) with Tristan Stubbs. The DC captain duly bagged the Man of the Match award.
Coming back from a life-threatening car accident in December 2022, Rishabh Pant has not looked like he had been away from the game for more than a year.
The 26-year-old has scored 342 runs so far at a strike rate of 161 with three half-centuries in nine innings and seems to be the front-runner for the wicketkeeper’s slot in India’s T20 World Cup team. He is looking leaner and fitter than before, and he has got his touch with the bat back already.

After his heroics against Gujarat, Pant reacted to a video on Twitter that took a dig at his critics. A fan posted a video in which a content creator could be seen smacking bowlers in a net for fun, with utter ease, something similar to what Pant makes ball-hitting look like when he is in full flow.
The video was captioned by the fan, “Rishabh pant when people start doubting him.”
The Delhi Capitals skipper took notice of this funny video and replied, “Quite funny 😂😂😂 looks good.”

Speaking on his knock after DC had lost early wickets, Pant said,
“Surely at 43/3, we wanted to just keep going and target their main spinners. If we get something, we will take it on and keep rotating the strike. Every day that I’m in the middle, I feel better. Every hour on the field matters, I love being on the field.“
