Such was the expression of a taxi driver in Lucknow, who said he wouldn’t mind Dhoni and Chennai Super Kings defeating Lucknow Super Giants “with some love”.
CSK and LSG will face off on Friday evening at the Ekana cricket stadium in Lucknow for what promises to be an exciting encounter as both teams thrive on a dry, bowling-friendly pitch that is expected in Lucknow tonight.
Both teams are in the upper-half of the points table. CSK have 4 wins in 6 games and LSG have 3 wins and 3 losses.
As has been the case in every city that Dhoni has traveled to in the tournament so far, fans thronged in huge numbers to the airport to receive the 2011 World Cup-winning captain.
The IPL website uploaded an emotional video of some fans in Lucknow and the ground staff at the Ekana stadium talking about Dhoni and their profound feelings toward the 42-year-old from Ranchi who has been ruling over their hearts since 2004.
A taxi driver donned a huge smile when he said he’d still be happy if Dhoni trumped over LSG.
“Lucknow welcomes MS Dhoni with open arms. Please come sir, we welcome you. Lucknow is famous for its hospitality. Please come and beat us respectfully. Dhoni is the backbone of Indian cricket and loving him is our duty. We all love MS Dhoni,” the taxi driver said.
At the airport, there were some guys who were elated to welcome Dhoni, and they said they have tickets to the match and would see Thala in action live.

Dhoni has lit up the IPL with the bat in a couple of special innings. Against Delhi Capitals in Vizag, Dhoni smashed 37* runs in only 16 balls, walloping 4 fours and 3 sixes.
While that knock against DC came in a losing cause, Dhoni’s 20*(4) against Mumbai Indians at the Wankhede made the difference as CSK won by exactly 20 runs. Dhoni came in to bat in the last over of CSK’s innings and slammed Hardik Pandya, the Mumbai Indians captain, for a hat-trick to sixes as the Wankhede went crazy.
