Sreesanth Wants MS Dhoni To Open For CSK: Former Indian pacer S Sreesanth says he is impressed by the fitness of Chennai Super Kings wicketkeeper-batsman MS Dhoni and claims the veteran could open the innings for his franchise.
Dhoni has been part of CSK since the inception of the IPL in 2008. Having been the team captain since the start, he has led the side to five IPL titles. Now in his 17th season of the IPL, Dhoni has finally given up the captaincy to young batting star Ruturaj Gaikwad, a sign that the 42-year-ol might retire following this season.
But in CSK’s most recent match against the Delhi Capitals, when he came out to bat for the first time this season, Dhoni looked like his former self, depositing the ball beyond the boundary rope all over the park.

Despite the Super Kings’ loss against DC, Dhoni scored an impressive 37-off-16 and kept his side in the match. He is looking fit in his appearances so far while keeping and batting.
S Sreesanth, who played with Dhoni for India and India A early in their careers, recently told the Times of India that MS does not look like retiring anytime soon. With his fitness levels and signature long hair, we are looking at the vintage Dhoni, he said –
“Dhoni’s performance this year has exceeded expectations. His fitness level, wicketkeeping, and batting seem as sharp as they did in his early days in the 2000s. With his signature long hair, it’s like watching the vintage Dhoni of old.”
Sreesanth Wants MS Dhoni To Open For CSK
Sreesanth also discussed how he has seen MS Dhoni during practice sessions and how he wants to see the keeper-batter come up the order for CSK.
“I have also observed him during practice sessions back in 2002 and 2003 when he was on the cusp of being selected for India A. He had a determined focus in those days. Compared to then, he is now much fitter. We all used to discuss the idea of him batting at number 4 or 5. However, I would love to see him open and take the attack to the opposition bowlers,”
said Sreesanth.
MS Dhoni and Chennai Super Kings will next be seen in action when they take on Sunrisers Hyderabad on April 5 in Hyderabad’s Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium.
