Fans Reaction on RCB New Jersey: The majority of the fans are unhappy and were left disappointed with RCB introducing the blue color in their jersey for the IPL 2024 season. On Tuesday, the franchise hosted the Unbox event at the Chinnaswamy Stadium, and launched the new jersey.
The players had already had the photoshoot, and the franchise released pictures of their marquee players, including Virat Kohli, Faf du Plessis, Glenn Maxwell, and Mohammed Siraj, on Tuesday.
The Unbox event at the Chinnaswamy Stadium was a success, and everyone had fun: Alan Walker was the DJ, Smriti Mandhana’s team got a guard of honor from the men’s team for winning the WPL trophy, and the franchise announced the change in its name from Royal Challengers Bangalore to Royal Challengers Bengaluru.
However, the fans on social media expressed disappointment and frustration at the addition of the blue color in the RCB jersey.
RCB had red and black color combination which was loved by all, and it was unique in the IPL. But multiple other teams already have blue color in their attire, so it was annoying for the RCB fans to see their beloved franchise lose its uniqueness when it comes to jersey color. They said the franchise didn’t need to make any color modifications – not least mix the blue color – in their t-shirt.

In a historic move made by the franchise, RCB have made a modification to their name. They will, from IPL 2024 on, be known as Royal Challengers Bengaluru. They have been called Royal Challengers Bangalore since the tournament’s start in 2008. However, the demands of a change of name—from Bangalore to Bengaluru—have been raised by the fans for the past couple of years, and as it got stronger, the franchise decided to eventually modify it.
At the Unbox event, former pacer Vinay Kumar was entered into the RCB Hall of Fame. Last year, AB de Villiers and Chris Gayle were named as the first two RCB Hall of Famers.
RCB will play the opening match of the IPL 2024 season against defending champions Chennai Super Kings in the latter’s den, the Chepauk.
