MS Dhoni Might Promote Himself Up The Order: Former CSK and MI batter Ambati Rayudu believes that Chennai Super Kings captain MS Dhoni might promote himself up the order in the upcoming 2024 season of the IPL.
Rayudu, who retired from the league after winning another championship with CSK has been one of the most prolific batters in IPL history. Recently, he has transitioned into sports broadcasting.
Ever since retiring from international cricket in 2020, Dhoni has been reducing his duties with the bat more and more each year. In 2018, he came down to bat at #8 on many occasions.

Dhoni has been in the news lately after clips from his net practice sessions surfaced. One of the videos saw him slog a no-look six. The 42-year-old has also looked in the best shape of his life, with him being away from cricket for most of the year, he has the time to cop an impressive physique.
MS Dhoni Might Promote Himself Up The Order
During a recent press conference for Star Sports (the TV broadcasters for IPL 2024), Rayudu gave his thoughts about MS Dhoni and how he will approach batting for CSK in 2024, he said –
“With Dhoni bhai, you never know. But knowing him and knowing what happened in the last few seasons, I am sure he will promote a youngster there. He may promote himself a number or two up, but not in the top order.”
MS Dhoni is just 43 runs away from becoming only the second Super Kings batter after Suresh Raina to have scored 5000 runs in league history. While he does have 5000 IPL runs, some of them were made in the two seasons he played for the Rising Pune Supergiants.
As the defending champions, Chennai Super Kings will kick off the 2024 season of the IPL when they face the Royal Challengers Bangalore in Chennai’s MA Chidambaram Stadium on March 22.
