India Destroy England On Test 5 Day 1: India is far and away in command of the match after dominating England in all aspects of the game.
It is Day 1 of the fifth and last Test match between India and England in the ongoing series and the hosts seem to have this match in the bag on just the 1st day.
Being played in the beautiful HPCA Stadium in Dharamshala with the majestic Himalayas in the backdrop, England won the toss and chose to bat first on what looked like a haven for the batsmen.

The Three Lions also had a start to remember, as they were 100/2 when the Tea break came. But the wicket of Ollie Pope, which fell right before the break, looks in hindsight like the sign of things to come.
When the English lost half-Centurian Zak Crawley’s wicket, followed by Jonny Bairstow’s scalp, the guests were still in a strong position at 175/4. But then, England showed off something they have made a habit of during this series.

From 175/4 to 183/8, the English middle-order collapsed like a stack of bricks. While tailenders did put up a decent fight, England were all-out for just 218.
The first innings of the match was the Kuldeep Yadav show. The left-arm-wrist spinner picked up an impressive collection of wickets, sending Ben Duckett, Zak Crawley, Ollie Pope, Jonny Bairstow, and Ben Stokes back to the pavilion
Ravichandran Ashwin, who was playing his 100th Test match in Dharamshala, took four wickets and essentially wiped out England’s lower order. The one remaining wicket, of Joe Root, was taken by Ravindra Jadeja. This means that all 10 of England’s wickets on Day 1 were taken by spinners.
The pitch has not been a rank turner at any point on this day. This can be concluded by India’s innings, which saw both openers Rohit Sharma and Yashasvi Jaiswal score 50s.
Having batted 30 overs today, India were at 135/1 at stumps, with Jaiswal losing his wicket to attacking fervor more than a brilliant delivery. With only one Day under our belts, India is just trailing by 83 runs and will be looking to take a massive lead on Day 2.
