Manchester United Eyeing Former Barcelona Striker: Manchester United are reportedly looking to sign former Barcelona and Middlesbrough striker Martin Braithwaite possibly at the end of the season. However, the winter transfer window still has a couple of days before the deadline, making him a prospect for United as soon as this week.
Danish striker Braithwaite had a two-year stint at Barcelona from 2022-22. His time at the club is generally considered to be a failure, with him scoring just 10 goals in 58 matches for that Blaugrana.
Braithwaite is currently plying his trade for Segunda Division (Spanish second division) side Espanol, where he has scored 21 goals in 52 appearances. In fact, he is the highest scorer in the division this season with 12 goals in 22 matches.

Marcus Rashford and Rasmus Hojlund, Man United’s premier striking options have been disappointing this season. While Hojlund has started to pick his form up, Rashford has looked out of it for some time now.
United could not target a big-name striker as they are bound by the Financial Fair Play rules, so the 6 million Euro release clause of Martin Braithwaite looks enticing.
Another club that might be on the hunt for the Danish star is Chelsea. The Blues are having a very ordinary season for the second year in a row. Currently ninth on the Premier League table, Chelsea’s attack has been very hot and cold this season. They have a 0-0 draw against Aston Villa in the FA Cup one night and then go on to score six against Middlesbrough the other.
Manager Mauricio Pochettino would hope that adding Braithwaite to the forward line will bring some stability in their attack, especially against the better teams in the league.
