CM Punk Set To Miss WrestleMania 40: WWE Superstar CM Punk made his televised in-ring return to the company 10 years after he walked out back in 2014. Punk came so close to winning the Royal Rumble in his return match but ended up as a runner-up when Cody Rhodes eliminated him in the 30-man elimination match.
Following the event, reports emerged that Punk had suffered a ‘significant injury’ during the Royal Rumble. That was confirmed on this week’s episode of Monday Night RAW, where the former WWE Champion walked out to the ring with a cast.

Punk then revealed the full extent of his injury, claiming he tore his tricep at the Rumble which takes a long time to rehab, long enough that WrestleMania 40 will not be on the cards for him.
The segment then saw CM Punk promise the fans that he would not give up on his WrestleMania dream and that ‘there is always next year’.

Drew McIntyre then walked out and was diabolical on the mic when climbing that he ‘prayed for’ CM Punk to get injured. The former WrestleMania main-eventer also said that he targeted the ‘Voice of the Voiceless’ at the Rumble and that he ‘exorcised the demon’ that is Punk from the WWE locker room.
The Chicago native then jabbed back at McIntyre, saying that he will main-event WrestleMania one day, but after his rehab, he will come straight for Drew.
Drew McIntyre then attacked an injured Punk, targeting his injured arm. This attack continued till Sami Zayn made the save.
CM Punk’s injury, which generally takes 4-6 months to completely heal, has put WWE’s WrestleMania plans into jeopardy. It is believed that Punk was supposed to challenge Seth Rollins for his World Heavyweight Championship. But with Punk now injured, WWE will have to look for a new challenger for Rollins.
