Jaipur Pink Panthers 10-Match Undefeated Run: Pro Kabaddi League defending champions Jaipur Pink Panthers are on a historic run in the ongoing 2023-24 season of the PKL. After a below .500 start to the season, the team has now been on a 10-match undefeated streak. They will now take on the Bengal Warriors to take the streak to 11 matches.
Jaipur did lose their opening match of the season to Puneri Paltan 37-33. Following that, they tied one, won one, and lost another match two making it two losses, one win, and a tie in their first four matches.
Jaipur Pink Panthers 10-Match Undefeated Run Starts
Their undefeated run kicked off on December 17, when the Rajasthan-based team took on the most successful team in PKL history, Patna Pirates. The Pink Panthers won the close game 29-28.
Next, they comprehensively defeated Pardeep Narwal’s UP Yoddhas 41-24. The next two matches saw them defeat Tamil Thalaivas in front of their home crowd in Chennai 25-24 and then tie a game against a Dabang Delhi side which is missing their star-raider Naveen Kumar
JPP then won their next two matches fairly easily, with a 45-34 scoreline against the Haryana Steelers and 41-31 against U Mumba.
Then began the Pink Panthers’ home leg in Jaipur’s Sawai Mansingh Indoor Stadium, which is the best home stretch for any team this season. First, the defending champions won against the Telegu Titans 38-35. They then defeated Puneri Paltan in the return contest 36-34.
The third win on this stretch came against U Mumba 31-29, and as of yet the final match of Jaipur Pink Panthers’ undefeated streak was a win over Haryana Steelers 37-27.
The longest undefeated streak in a season of the Pro Kabaddi League so far has been 11 points, set by U Mumba in the league’s third season in 2016. The defending champions at that point, Mumba won their last 11 matches going into the final that season, which included the semi-final against the Bengal Warriors.
Alas! U Mumba did end up losing the final that season to the Patna Pirates, who would complete a three-peat of titles in the next three seasons.
The hero of Jaipur’s incredible run this season has been star raider Arjun Deshwal, who is the highest point scorer this season in the league with 157 points in 14 matches. He also leads the league in Super 10s with nine.
