Real Madrid to Sell Vinicius Jr: Real Madrid is reportedly planning to sell their prolific winger Vinicius Jr. if Kylian Mbappe decides to join the Los Blancos by the end of the season, as reported by Eduardo Inda on El Chiringuito de Jugones, a popular program in Spain.
Mbappe’s contract with PSG will expire this summer, and he will be a free agent. The player is now allowed to start negotiations with other clubs.
Real Madrid to Sell Vinicius Jr: Why?
While Mbappe is versatile and can play in various forward positions, including as a striker, the potential overlap with Vinicius Jr. in the squad may necessitate tough decisions for coach Carlo Ancelotti.
Although there might be a possible overload in the squad, this might not be the primary reason for Madrid to leave their star winger. If they want to sign someone like Kylian Mbappe, whose wage demands are gonna be huge, the quickest way to do that is by selling a much more valuable player in the market like Vinicius Jr.
Real Madrid recently extended his contract until 2027, which might enable them to have some money as the older contract was about to expire by June 2024.
Inda highlighted the financial considerations, stating, “if Mbappe comes, someone will have to leave because we have to make money… I’ve always said that there’s a big candidate to be sold, and there’s information [on that]. You have to sell to someone… I’m talking about Vinicius. If Mbappe were to come, someone has to leave, and a player for whom you would receive a lot of money is the Brazilian.”
Interestingly, one of the potential suitors for Vinicius could be Mbappe’s current club, Paris Saint-Germain. However, other top clubs in the Premier League, such as Manchester City or Liverpool, might also express interest in securing the services of one of the most widely regarded wingers in the world.
