Fans Back Jinder Mahal For World Title Win: Wrestling fans on social media have thrown their support behind Jinder Mahal for his World Heavyweight Championship match against Seth Rollins next week.
On this week’s episode of Monday Night RAW, Jinder confronted Rollins and challenged him for the title before laying the champ out. It was then announced that the Mahal would face The Architect for the latter’s world title on next week’s RAW.
Then something very unexpected happened, something that was on nobody’s bingo card for 2024, AEW Owner and President Tony Khan took shots at Jinder Mahal and the fact that he is challenging for a world championship despite not winning a TV match in the last year.
On last week’s episode of AEW Collision, FTW Champion Hook, who has a 28-1 record in AEW, challenged the company’s World Champion Samoa Joe for a title match. Several fans made fun of how Hook does not feel like a viable challenger for the AEW Championship at the moment.
Tony Khan, who is infamous for his outbursts on X (formerly Twitter), did not like how fans reacted to Hook challenging for the World title vs how fans accepted Jinder Mahal being a title challenger, calling it a double standard. He tweeted –

After months of not appearing on WWE TV, Jinder Mahal walked out to the ring on the January 1st edition of RAW after Triple H hyped up an appearance by a former WWE Champion. While that particular arrival was a setup for The Rock returning to WWE, this week’s RAW saw him being treated much more seriously, like a serious threat for Seth Rollins’ World Heavyweight Championship.
