Drake Loses Money On Edwards vs Covington Fight: Rapper and international superstar Drake once again lost thousands of dollars by betting on the main event of UFC 296, the Welterweight Championship bout between Leon Edwards and Colby Covington.
British fighter and UFC Welterweight Champion defended his title for the second time in the main event of UFC 196 on December 16 against Colby Covington. The fight went the distance as the two fought for the whole five rounds.
Edwards defended his title at the end via unanimous decision. While Colby looked shocked and confused when the result was announced, the result was ultimately the right one.

Drake, who is known to regularly bet on sporting events, is also known to ‘curse’ the people he bet on. He famously bet $500000 on Israel Adesanya ahead of his fight against Sean Strickland at UFC 193. Adesanya famously lost that fight via knockout.
He also bet on the 2018 bout between Connor McGregor and Khabib Nurmagomedov in favor of the Irish fighter, who lost the match.

His ‘curse’ goes past the boundaries of individual sports, as Drake has put ‘safe’ bets on the likes of Paris Saint Germain, Manchester City, and Borussia Dortmund in the past, only for those teams to suffer humiliating losses.
So when the hip-hop star put down a $250000 bet on Leon Edwards to win the match against Colby Covington via knockout, fans of the Welterweight Champion were worried. But those fears did not amount to much as Leon came away with a solid victory.
That does not mean that Drake came away from the match with the $1200000 payout on his bet. The Canadian rapper bet on Leon Edwards winning via knockout which did not happen. So in the eyes of the bet-takers, it basically amounts to Drake betting on the wrong horse and thus he lost the money.
