Arsenal Score 6 Against Lens In Champions League: Arsenal fell upon French club Lens like a Weapon of Mass Destruction during their clash on Matchday 5 in Group B of the Champions League. The reigning Premier League runner-ups destroyed their opposition 6-0 in the Emirates Stadium.
Arsenal Score 6 Against Lens In Champions League, Set Record
In their first Champions League campaign after 5 years, Arsenal have emerged as genuine contenders for the title. Against Lens, their scoring started early. In the 13th minute, Kai Havertz received a cool pass from Gabriel Jesus in the 6-yard box and slotted the ball into the net, 1-0.
London was indeed red on the night as Jesus doubled Arsenal’s lead in the 21st minute. A superb run by Bukayo Saka found him blowing past most of the Lens defense. But when he was surrounded, he nudged the ball to Gabriel Jesus, who struck the ball into the bottom corner, 2-0.
Only a couple of minutes later in the 23rd minute, the floodgates truly opened as Arsenal added another. After a clean assist for the previous goal, it was Saka’s turn to score. Gabriel Martinelli rockets the ball which is saved by Lens keeper Brice Samba. But the deflected ball falls at the feet of Saka, who puts it into the net with his thighs, 3-0.

No prizes for guessing that Arsenal scored another goal just a few minutes later. In the 27 minutes, Martinelli gets the goal he was denied just minutes ago. A long pass from Takehiro Tomiyasu finds the Brazilian winger who went past a couple of defenders before finishing into the far corner, 4-0.
Before the half ended, Arsenal made it a solid 5. In the injury time, the Gunners caught their opponents with a counter-attack. Tomiyasu lobs the ball over the Lens defense and Matin Odegaard was there at the end of it. The Norwegian then thumped a sublime volley into the net, 5-0.
Arsenal naturally slowed the game down in the second half, with not many chances created in the period. They sat back and showed off their defense. Lens could not create a proper chance at the goal at any point during the match.
But the night was not over, as increasing pressure in the last 15 minutes of the game resulted in Lens giving away a penalty in the 85th minute, which was converted by Jorginho, 6-0.
And with that, Arsenal finished off their dominant exhibition. The team scored six goals, with each goal being scored by a different player.
With that win, Arsenal are not on top of Group B in the Champions League with 12 points in 5 matches and are confirmed to be the toppers of the group going into the knockouts. PSV and Lens are in second and third position in the group and will be looking for that second qualification spot as both teams are on 8 and 5 points respectively.
