What is The Rank of India in Table Tennis?: Despite it being a popular recreational sport in the country, Table Tennis is still not one of the most popular games in India. The sport has failed to capture the minds of Indian audiences despite several attempts to make it popular.
While there are several reasons for Table Tennis not being the most popular sport in India, one of them surely is the domination of China and other East Asian countries on the sport, and India’s resulting failure at the biggest levels.
What is The Rank of India in Table Tennis. As a nation, India is ranked eighth in the International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) rankings, with several of our stars eyeing future Olympic and World Championship medals. But for now, the only medals India has won at the highest levels of Table Tennis are two bronze medals in the World Championships, all the way back in 1926. Although, India has seen a resurgence in Table Tennis as of late.

Manika Batra
Manika Batra is the highest-ranked Indian Table Tennis player and a strong medal contender for India in any international competition. The 2018 Commonwealth Champion in Women’s Team and SIngles competitions, Manika is currently the 37th-ranked Women’s Table Tennis player in the world.

Sharath Kamal
Sharath Kamal has been India’s most consistent representative in Table Tennis for over a decade now. The now 41-year-old is still eyeing international medals and trophies.
Sharath won his first Commonwealth Games gold back in 2006 and has won a medal at each iteration of the competition since, be it in Men’s Singles. Men’s Doubles, or Mixed Doubles. His seven golds, three silvers, and three bronzes are joined by his two bronzes in the Asian Games and three bronzes in the Asian Championships on his trophy cabinet.

Sathiyan Gnanasekaran
The Chennai native has been India’s brightest prospect in Men’s Table Tennis in recent times. The two-time Commonwealth Games gold medallist has reached as high as 24th in the World rankings.
As far as international accolades are concerned, Sathiyan Gnanasekaran has also won two silvers and two bronzes at the Commonwealth level. He has also won three Asian Championship bronze medals and an Asian Games bronze, which he will look to improve upon this year.

Sreeja Akula
Sreeja Akula is a rising Indian Table Tennis player who won a gold medal in Mixed Doubles at the 2022 Commonwealth Games alongside Sharath Kamal.
Currently ranked 66th in Women’s Singles Table Tennis Sreeja will be looking to expand her portfolio by winning a medal at the upcoming Asian Games and the 2024 Paris Olympics.

Harmeet Desai
Currently, the highest-ranked Indian Table Tennis player in Men’s Singles at 69th, Harmeet Desai has been a constant in the conversation of India’s best TT players for years.
A Commonwealth Gold medallist in 2018 and 2022 as part of the Men’s Table Tennis Team, Desai has also won one bronze and three bronzes at the Asian Games and Asian Championships respectively.
