On Tuesday, May 16, Lucknow Super Giants won against Mumbai Indians by five runs in Lucknow, despite losing their captain KL Rahul earlier in the IPL 2023 tournament. LSG batted first and posted a good total of 177/3 in their allotted 20 overs on the sluggish Lucknow pitch. MI could only manage to score 172/5 in their second innings in response. As per Great moment for Mohsin, Mohsin Khan’s exceptional last over performance helped LSG defend ten runs with 11 runs needed, securing their victory. After the win, Stoinis was named the ‘Player of the Match’ for his outstanding performance, and he commended Mohsin for his heroics in the final over.
“Yes, great moment for Mohsin. Injured for a year and for him to come out there and defend a total like that was great,” Stoinis said at the post-match presentation.
Khan’s return to professional cricket in the current IPL 2023 season is noteworthy, as he had to take a break from the sport due to a shoulder injury. He missed the first half of the tournament and has only played three games so far. After his impressive performance in the last over against MI, the left-arm seamer shared his struggles during his injury and admitted that he had lost hope of playing cricket again.
“It was a very tough time, and I had given up hope of playing cricket at one point because I was not able to even lift my hand, forget bowling. I was not able to straighten [my hand], my physio worked alongside me. It was medical related; it was quite scary, as the doctor had said if I was late by another month they would have had to amputate my hand. It was quite strange, my artery was blocked, my nerve was blocked,” Khan told Star Sports
