3 Big Records That Could Be Achieved in RR vs MI: Sanju Samson’s Rajasthan Royals will host Hardik Pandya’s Mumbai Indians tonight, April 22, Monday, at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur for match number 38 of the IPL 2024. This is the last game in Jaipur this season; RR won three of their four matches in Jaipur so far, and their last two home games will be played in Guwahati.
Samson’s side is sitting comfortably at the top of the points table with six wins in seven matches, and a victory tonight will bring them only one step away from sealing a playoff spot. Hardik’s team is in the 7th position. MI started their campaign with three consecutive losses before bouncing back to win three of their next four games.
The Royals remain clear favorites for this encounter as Mumbai’s bowling is heavily dependent on Jasprit Bumrah and Gerald Coetzee as other bowlers have simply been ordinary.
3 Big Records That Could Be Achieved in RR vs MI
Yuzvendra Chahal nears 200 IPL wickets
The biggest milestone of the night will be eyed by RR leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal, who is the leading wicket-taker in IPL history. Sitting on 199 IPL wickets, Chahal will become the first bowler in IPL history to take 200 wickets if he manages to scalp at least one wicket tonight.
Having played for MI, RCB, and RR, Chahal has snared 199 IPL wickets in 152 matches. Sadly, he’s not made a single appearance in the T20 World Cup for India.
Rohit Sharma could displace Finch on the leading T20 run-scorers list
After a couple of misfiring seasons, Rohit Sharma, the former MI captain, has been in imperious form in IPL 2024, in particular in the powerplay with his aggressive intent. Rohit has so far scored 297 runs at a strike rate of 164 and an average of 49 with one century to his name.
Overall, in his T20 career, Rohit has amassed 11453 runs and is the 8th-highest T20 run-scorer of all time. Only five runs ahead of him is former Australia captain Aaron Finch, with 11458 runs in his T20 career. If Rohit scores more than five runs, he will move up to the 7th spot in the T20 run chart.
Jos Buttler is only 54 runs away from 3000 runs for RR
Jos Buttler needs only 54 more runs to attain the milestone of 3000 runs for Rajasthan Royals, and whenever he achieves it, he will become the first overseas player to do so for RR.
Buttler, who was part of MI for the first two seasons of his career, was bought by RR in the IPL 2018 mega-auction. Since then, he’s scored 2946 runs at an average of 43 and a strike rate of 148. For RR, Buttler has notched up 18 fifties and 7 centuries and was the Orange Cap winner in IPL 2022, when he helped RR finish as the runner-up.
