Even though the Blues have been untouchable in the tournament, former Indian star Yuvraj Singh is a bit skeptical about India’s chances of winning the World Cup. He thinks that India can lose if they repeat past mistakes. According to him, the performances of the top three batters will have a major say in the direction of the match.
“India can lose the final by their own mistakes. We have seen this in the past. The top three batters are very important. If they score runs, Australia have no chance. But if the Aussies manage to get rid of our top three, India will be under pressure. It will be interesting to see how the middle order handles the situation,” he said.
Yuvraj also found some similarities between the 2023 and 2003 World Cup campaigns. While Australia was undefeated and met India in the 2003 World Cup final, in 2023, the roles are reversed.
“India are playing cricket in a similar fashion as we saw from Australia in 2003. They were undefeated and met us in the final. Now, India are undefeated and will play Australia in the final. India are looking strong and can win the World Cup.”
Allrounder also found time to praise Indian skipper Rohit Sharma.
“Rohit Sharma plays for the team and is a good leader. He has made good bowling changes,” he said.
