Yuvraj Singh India Losing 3-1 Vs Australia: Former Indian Cricket Team all-rounder Yuvraj Singh has said that losing the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 3-1 to Australia is still a little acceptable when put against a 3-0 whitewash defeat to New Zealand at home.
The five-match Australia vs India Test series, which took place Down Under, saw the Men in Blue win the first match at Perth. The Aussies then evened the series in the second inning in Adelaide. The third Test at Brisbane was drawn as it was heavily affected by rains.
The fourth and fifth matches in Melbourne and Sydney, both of which Australia won, came right down to the wire. Although the result wasn’t particularly close, both these matches came down to the last day, where the better-performing team would win the match. That team was Australia on both occasions.

In the fifth match at Sydney, with the series standing at 2-1 heading into the third day, India was slight favourites heading into Day Three to win the match, tie the series, and take the trophy home, as they have been winning the BGT for the last decade.
But then, first, the Kangaroos cleaned up the bottom half of the Indian batting order. And then, due to a missing Man of the Series, Jasprit Bumrah, they chased the target down with relative ease.
Now, Yuvraj Singh, who has played 40 Tests for India while scoring 1900 runs and taking nine wickets, has said that the 3-1 loss in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy is not the most humiliating thing that has happened to the Indian Cricket Team this year; that was the 3-0 defeat in a three-match home series against New Zealand, which was India’s first home Test series defeat in 12 years and the first whitewash at home for independent India.

Yuvi had this to say to PTI (Mid Day) in a recent interview:
“According to me, losing (to) New Zealand is more hurtful (sic). Because they are losing 3-0 at home. You know, that is not acceptable. This (losing BGT) is still acceptable because you have won two times in Australia. And this time you lost. Australia has been a dominant side for the last so many years; that is my thought.”
A major reason for India’s loss in the India vs Australia Test series was the flopping of senior batters, Virat Kohli and captain Rohit Sharma. Yuvraj chimed in on conversations surrounding these two as well, saying that the fans easily forget their achievements in the past, saying,
“We are talking about our greats, Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma; we are saying very bad things about them. People forget what they have achieved in the past. They are one of the greatest cricketers of this time. Okay, they lost; they did not play good cricket. They are getting hurt more than us.”
India will now play England in five T20Is and three ODIs at home in January-February before heading to Dubai for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025.
