Yuvraj Singh Comments On Making Of His Biopic: Former Indian cricketer Yuvraj Singh has shown excitement for the upcoming biopic that is to be made on his life story, as he believes that his story will inspire millions around the globe.
Biopics about Indian cricketing greats have become a beloved genre of sports movies in India. From one about MS Dhoni to one about Mithali Raj, to a movie tracking India’s triumph in the 1983 Cricket World Cup, these films not only do well at the box office but are highly acclaimed as well.
Bhushan Kumar, the owner of T-Series, will team up with Ravi Bhagchandka, who produced the 2017 documentary on Sachin Tendulkar’s life and career, to produce Yuvi’s biopic.
The movie, which is unnamed as of yet, was announced to be in the works at an event. The biopic will aim to go further than his stats and on-field achievements. The all-rounder is one of the most inspiring cricketers of all time. Not only did he play massive roles in two World Cup wins, being named the Player of the Tournament of the 2011 CWC, but he also battled cancer off the field, making his return after a life-threatening illness.
Yuvraj Singh Comments On Making Of His Biopic
During the event announcing his biopic, the 42-year-old had this to say about what he expects from the film:
“I am deeply honoured that Bhushan Ji and Ravi will show my story to millions of my fans worldwide. Cricket is my greatest love and source of strength. I hope this film inspires others to overcome challenges and pursue their dreams with passion.”
Bhushan Kumar, T-Series owner and producer of countless popular movies, had this to say about Yuvraj’s biopic:
“Yuvraj Singh’s life is a compelling narrative of resilience, triumph, and passion. His journey from a promising cricketer to a cricketing hero, and then to a hero in real life, is truly inspiring. I’m thrilled to bring a story that needs to be told and heard through the big screen.”
An all-time great, especially in limited overs formats, Yuvraj Singh played 304 ODIs for India, scoring 8701 runs at an average of 37 with 14 hundreds and 52 half-centuries. He also took 111 wickets. As stated above, he was named the Player of the Tournament at the 2011 Cricket World Cup for scoring 362 runs and taking 15 wickets as India won the tournament.
In 58 T20Is, he scored 1177 runs and took 28 wickets. A crucial part of the 2007 World T20 winning squad, Yuvi famously hit six-sixes in an over against Stuart Broad of England during the tournament.
But what made him mean more than just a great cricketer to Indian fans was his battle with cancer. Having been diagnosed after the 2011 World Cup, he battled the disease before making his incredible return to the field in late 2012.
