It was Day 3 of India’s third Test of the five-match series against England and the day belonged to the young Indian opener Yashasvi Jaiswal, who carried the side on his back and scored a century, before going off the field being retired hurt.
At the start of the day, the English were 207/2 and were trailing by 238 runs. Ben Duckett had scored a brilliant 100 on Day 2 and continued the onslaught on Day 3. But a collapse towards the end saw them finish their innings at 319 as India maintained a 126-run lead in the first innings.

Then walked in Jaiswal, alongside captain Rohit Sharma. When Sharma was dismissed early, Shubman Gill came in and the two young talents formed a superb partnership.

At 104 runs, Yashasvi Jaiswal returned to the pavilion and was announced retired hurt. While his back pain did look serious, a night’s rest might make him ready to take to the pitch on Day 4.
Rajat Patidar came in to bat after Jaiswal and was dismissed for a duck. India ended the day at 191/2 and a 322-run lead, comfortably in the driver’s seat. Shubman Gill was not out for 65, and night-watchman Kuldeep Yadav i currently on 3.
