Yashasvi Jaiswal Rises To 12th In Test Rankings: India’s latest batting sensation Yashasvi Jaiswal has leapfrogged team captain Rohit Sharma in the most recent edition of ICC Test Batsman Rankings. This makes Jaiswal the second-highest-ranked Test batter after Virat Kohli.
The Test Rankings were updated on Wednesday, February 28. In the latest update, the 23-year-old has moved up three spots and is now ranked the 12th-best Test batsman in the world.
With this, he has surpassed his opening partner and captain Rohit Sharma, who dropped to no.23 in the rankings.

Jaiswal’s improved ranking is a result of his excellent recent form. In the ongoing five-match Test series against England, Yashasvi has scored 655 runs and has equalled Virat Kohli’s record of most runs against England in a bilateral series with one match to spare. He has also scored two back-to-back double-centuries in the second and third Test.

The last record makes Jaiswal only the third Indian to score two double-centuries in two Test matches after Vinod Kambli and Virat Kohli Kohli.
In the absence of senior players like Kohli and KL Rahul, Yashasvi Jaiswal has taken the mantle of being the leader of India’s batting unit. He has played a crucial role in his team’s unbeatable 3-1 lead in the series.
Kohli, who has been out of this series due to what we now know is the birth of his son, is still India’s highest-ranked Test batter at 9th.
Other notable Indian names in the ranking are Shubman Gill, who rose to 31 after good performances in the last two Tests, and Indian wicketkeeper Dhruv Jurel, who reached his career-best ranking of 69. Rishabh Pant, who has not played any cricket in the past one-and-a-half year, is still ranked the 14th best Test batsman in the world.
