WWE Personality Shoots At The Return of CM Punk: In what will be the biggest pro wrestling story of the year, controversial star CM Punk returned to WWE after nearly 10 years away from the company. While many in the company are happy to see him return, it seems not all fancied seeing the Voice of the Voiceless back in the Stamford-based promotion.
Punk’s return to the company sparked joy and concern alike. As one of the biggest returns in WWE history, the company’s fans were over the moon to see the former AEW World Champion back where he first became a mainstream star. Although, his controversial past with the company, coupled with his fiery exit from AEW earlier this year must have certainly put some Superstars backstage on edge.

Immediately following Punk’s return at the end of Survivor Series 2023 in his hometown of Chicago, IL, videos emerged showing Seth Rollin looking mighty upset at the return, so much so that the fans speculated the current World Heavyweight Champion had no clue about the return.
Despite their contentious past firing at each other in interviews and online, it has been all but confirmed that Rollins’ outburst was a work. And so might have been Drew McIntyre immediately leaving the arena following the return.
CM Punk cut his first promo in the company since his 2014 exit on the RAW after Survivor Series. During this he suggested that it was all ‘hugs and kisses’ for him backstage following his return for the most part. The reports suggest the same, as many of Punk’s former colleagues welcomed him back with open arms.

But it seems that a part of the WWE did not want him to return. Recently, backstage interviewer Kayla Braxton took a shot at CM Punk’s WWE return. She shared the viral clip of his return and wrote this in the caption –
“I guess the grass is greener over here, huh?”
This line is a reference to CM Punk’s scathing promo against MJF during their modern classic rivalry in AEW in 2021/22. In a promo during the rivalry, Punk made comments about MJF’s “bidding war of 2024. Essentially, MJF on AEW TV alluded to the fact that his AEW contract was up in 2024, and he might just end up signing with WWE at that point if they were to offer more money.
Focusing on this, CM Punk, who was still burnt by his WWE firing in 2014, joked about how it wouldn’t be a big deal for MJF to go to WWE and check whether the “grass is greener on the other side.” This is the line Kayla Braxton referenced in her tweet.
Now, more than likely, this is just a tongue-in-cheek reference to CM Punk’s time in WWE. But with how CM Punk flamed out in AEW over conflict with his fellow workers, one can never know when a drama is kayfabe or real with the former WWE Champion.
