Will Ellyse Perry Play In WPL 2025: The question on the minds of the fans of Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and the Women’s Premier League (WPL) is whether superstar Australian all-rounder Ellyse Perry will feature in the upcoming season.
There have been huge doubts over Perry’s availability for the WPL 2025 season due to fitness reasons. Perry suffered a corked hip while fielding during the recently concluded Women’s Ashes Test match against England at the MCG.
While running behind a ball to save a boundary, Perry landed heavily on her left hip after diving to flick a ball back on the rope during day 1 of the Test match. She left the field soon after and did not return to the field for the rest of the match. Perry batted at No. 10 in Australia’s only innings, scoring two runs, and didn’t bowl a single ball in the match.
This had raised speculations among the fans and the RCB management whether Perry, who was a key cog in RCB’s WPL-winning season last year, would be able to play this year or whether she would miss the season entirely or partially.
Will Ellyse Perry Play In WPL 2025?
The good news for RCB is that Ellyse Perry has arrived in India for the WPL and has joined the RCB squad. However, it’s not yet certain whether she will play in the initial few games because of her hip injury.
On Tuesday, RCB posted a video of Perry arriving in India. In the video, she said, “I am here, guys. Let’s do it again.”
Last season, Perry was the key figure in RCB’s title-winning campaign. She was the leading run-scorer of the season with 347 runs in nine innings, scored at an average of 69. She also took seven wickets in seven bowling innings.
The WPL 2025 season is set to get underway on February 14, with defending champions RCB taking on Gujarat Giants in Vadodara.
