Will Arsenal Win First PL Title In 20 Years: English Premier League side Arsenal are hoping to win their first league title in 20 years. But for that to happen, they will need arch-rivals Tottenham Hotspur to win their next game.
The North London side is currently at the top of the PL table with 86 points in 37 matches. They have just one match left this season, against 15th-place Everton.

Manchester City, who have won six out of the last seven league titles under manager Pep Guardiola, are second in the league with 85 points but have played one fewer match. Suffice it to say, if City win both their remaining matches, they win the league for the fourth season on the trot.
The Sky Blues’ two remaining matches are against Tottenham Hotspur on May 15 (IST) and against West Ham on Matchday 38 of the league on May 19.
Even though West Ham has firmly established itself as a top-half club in the Premier League over the past few seasons, it is the Spurs who have a better chance of beating Man City, however slim it may be.
While Arsenal fans will be praying for Tottenham to win their match against City, they will be doing so with a bitter taste in their mouths. The Gunners and the Spurs have one of the longest-running and most high-profile rivalries in English football, with matches between them called the ‘North-London derby’.
Both clubs are based in North London, which was not the case about a century ago. But that is a long tale. What we can discuss now is how Arsenal and Tottenham players and fans have a lot of venom for one another.
When Arsenal was the dominant club in this rivalry about a decade ago, their fans celebrated St. Totteringham’s Day, the name given to the day in the season when it was mathematically impossible for the Spurs to take over their rivals in the league. However, for a few seasons in their recent history, St. Totteringham Day has not been celebrated.
Putting the generational hatred between the two teams aside for one day, Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal would back Tottenham against Manchester City, as a win or draw in that match would make the Gunners favorites to win their first league title in 20 years.
The last time Arsenal won the Premier League was in the famous 2003/04 ‘Invincibles’ season, when the London-based club did not lose a single match in the league for the whole season, winning the league by scoring 90 points on the table.
So tonight, a bizarre scenario will play out in the Premier League as Arsenal will be rooting for their arch-rivals to win their match in order to win their first league title in 20 years.
