Will Argentina And Brazil Meet In Copa America: The 2024 edition of the Copa America is now underway as 16 teams compete for the ultimate glory in football in the Americas.
While several dark horses could clinch the title, as likes of Uruguay, Columbia, and hosts the USA are expected to do well, there are ever only two favorites to win any Copa America, those being Argentina and Brazil.
Not only are these two of the most high-profile and popular national teams in the world, but they are also two of the most serial winners of international tournaments. While Argentina has the joint-most Copa America wins at 15, Brazil is second on the list with nine.

This time, however, these two teams go in with very different preparations. While Argentina arrives at this tournament as the defending Copa America champions, FIFA World Cup champions, and the favorites to win it all; Brazil comes into this competition with a brilliant squad that is still to gel together and a poor run of form right before the competition.
Still, one would expect both of them to be among the top two teams in this competition. So, the question is, when can fans expect them to collide in Copa America 2024?
Will Argentina And Brazil Meet In Copa America
Let’s start with Argentina. The defending champions are off to a fine start in this tournament. In Group A alongside Canada, Chile, and Peru, Lionel Messi’s side has already defeated Canada and Chile to make it to the quarter-final.
Expected to win Group A, Argentina will face the runner-up of Group B in the quarters, which at this point could be anyone from that group. Group B consists of Venezuela, Mexico, Ecuador, and Jamaica.
Let’s shift our focus for the moment to Brazil, who have a challenging start to this competition. A 0-0 draw against Costa Rica puts the Selecao in second in Group D tied on points with Costa Rica. If they finish in the top two in their group, depending on their position, they will either face the winner or the runner-up from Group C, which could be anyone out of Uruguay, the USa, Panama, and Bolivia. Although, it will most likely be Uruguay or the US.
Let’s focus back on Argentina. If they win their quarter-final, they will face the winner of the match between the other two qualifiers from Group A and Group B in the semi-finals. Similarly, if Brazil makes it through, they will face the winner of the other quarter-final between teams from Group C and Group D.
This means the teams from Group A and B will not face any team from Group C or D until the final (or the third-place play-off).
So, when is the earliest when Argentina and Brazil face off in Copa America 2024? The correct answer is the third-place playoff on July 13. But a better answer to this question is the Final, which will be played on Sunday, July 14 in the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, Florida.
