A similar fate had been bestowed upon RR as well, who, under Riyan Parag’s captaincy, lost their first match of the season to Sunrisers Hyderabad in Hyderabad.
Guwahati, which is RR’s home venue, is also the home city of Assam’s Parag, who is leading RR in the initial few matches of the season as regular skipper Sanju Samson is yet to completely recover from a finger injury, but Samson is playing as a batsman and is subbed in or out for an Impact Player.
KKR are playing today against RR without one of their key players, Sunil Narine. Narine was replaced in the lineup by England all-rounder Moeen Ali.

KKR skipper Ajinkya Rahane revealed at the toss that Narine is not well, and hence, he misses out on the game against RR. Moeen Ali made his KKR debut in place of Narine. Against RCB, Narine had made an impact with both bat and ball, smashing 44 runs off 26 balls and then returning with economical figures of 1/27 in four overs. But it went in vain as RCB chased down the target of 175 in 16.2 overs.
Meanwhile, RR have also made one change to their lineup that lost to SRH. They have included spinner Wanindu Hasaranga in their side and dropped pacer Fazalhaq Farooqi.
