Why did UFC MMA fans hate Ronda Rousey: Back in her day as a UFC fighter, Ronda Rousey was one of the biggest names not only in MMA but sports as a whole. She was not only the most popular female MMA fighter in the world but was also a massive reason behind UFC having a women’s division in the first place.
Signed by the UFC in 2012, Rousey became the first woman fighter to be signed by the promotion. She was then announced as the first-ever UFC Bantamweight Champion. The six-match win streak she went on is legendary, as her signature armbar submission became iconic overnight.
While hindsight tells us that all of her six wins in UFC came off of mediocre fighters, a three-year and six-win championship reign is nothing to scoff at. On the top of the world, Ronda Rousey to women’s MMA was like Conor McGregor to men’s MMA. In her time at the top of the MMA world, the Rowdy-one also acted in several movies, most notably in Furious 7.
Why did UFC MMA fans hate Ronda Rousey?
While she always had her detractors (who doesn’t), the first instance of Ronda Rousey being massively hated can be traced back to right after her first UFC defeat to Holly Holm. A knockout in the second round not only exposed a massive flaw in her game, especially against strike-heavy fighters but also gave ammunition to those who never liked Ronda in the first place.

While it is easy for one to say that it was because of her loss that people turned on Rousey, that her ‘Baddest Woman On The Planet’ tag was being questioned. While that might be the case for many, most people were turned on her because of her conduct following her loss.
UFC fighters are expected to take a loss a certain way. Complaining about the fight is okay, but a fighter must be seen accepting the loss. If not, they must be seen improving and changing their game, especially for some like Ronda Rousey, who had a massive flaw in her fighting style exposed.

The issue is that Ronda did none of that, instead, she was seen “running away from interviews.” An infamous picture of her walking through an airport covering her face with a pillow surfaced. Most fans believed Rousey was “acting out too much” following what was just one defeat in a 13-fight career.
At this point, it must be noted that Ronda Rousey was not equipped to take a loss like that. In interviews following the defeat, she opened up about how she contemplated ending her life following that bout. While she may have “acted out a little too much: following her loss, she was clearly not in a headspace to face the criticism she ended up facing.

Will Ronda Rousey be back in WWE for another Wrestlemania?
If that fight started the hate train on Ronda Rousey, her next fight, which was a first-minute knockout to Amanda Nunes, took the train to the station. The manner in which the bout was promoted, with Ronda being front and centre and Nunes not being focused on, also gave the fans a hint of arrogance.
Also, the way Ronda Rousey announced her retirement following the fight did not sit right with fans, with many going so far as to claim that she was never a good fighter in the first place.
