Why are Ronda Rousey and Brock Lesnar leaving WWE: Following her match against Shayna Baszler at SummerSlam, Ronda Rousey is done with WWE for the time being. The former UFC Bantamweight Champion has herself pointed out that she has nothing left to do in the company and thus is stepping away from it for the foreseeable future.
Another former UFC Champion Brock Lesnar might be leaving WWE soon too. The Beast Incarnate signed a one-year, five-match deal following WrestleMania 39. Having already wrestled three of those matches against Cody Rhodes, Lesnar is most likely done with WWE for 2023. He will most probably return for those two remaining matches next year, fighting in his last WWE match at WrestleMania 40.
Today we will look at why the two former MMA fighters are leaving WWE, and why they just might return to their former stomping grounds in UFC.
Why are Ronda Rousey and Brock Lesnar leaving WWE?
Ever since signing with WWE and making her debut at WrestleMania 34 in 2018, fans have known that she is a special talent in the ring. However heavily choreographed, her debut match teaming up with Kurt Angle to take on Triple H and Stephanie McMahon might have been the greatest WWE debut of all time. Her following matches confirmed what fans already suspected, she is a natural in the squared circle. The hype of a name like Ronda Rousey signing with WWE coupled with her quickly becoming a solid in-ring star made her a fan favorite in the early days of her run.
At some point, however, a section of the WWE Universe started turning on Ronda Rousey because of how many chances she was given on screen. She had her first title match at June 2018’s Money In The Bank, only two months after her debut. She won the title at the following month’s SummerSlam. But this fan dislike bubbled to the surface at Survivor Series 2018 when Rousey was booed out of the building following her DQ win over Charlotte Flair.

When and why did Ronda Rousey go to the WWE?
Why are Ronda Rousey and Brock Lesnar leaving WWE?
While this disconnect with the fans, which only grew for all the time she was with WWE, might have been the reason she was done with WWE, Ronda Rousey herself claimed in an Instagram post following her disappointing final match against Shayna Baszler that she has nothing more to do in the wrestling business. This might be true, as she is a former Royal Rumble winner, a multi-time champion, and was part of the first-ever all-women WrestleMania main event.
In an interview with The Sun following her WWE exit, Ronda Rousey cited pursuing roles in Hollywood as one of the reasons for her to leave WWE. Another reason she gave was her desire to expand her family with her husband Travis Browne.
The reason for Brock Lesnar’s quickly approaching WWE exit is much simpler. A very private man, Brock Lesnar lives with his wife (former WWE Superstar Sable) and two sons in a remote property in Canada. Now aged 46, Brock has surely accrued enough money via his many lucrative contracts to live out his life doing what he loves doing most, hunting.
Broc Lesnar, in the limited interviews he has done, has claimed that he enjoys nothing more than living a gruff life at his home, with his family. Surely in the twilight of his career now, the former WWE Champion would like nothing more than to just to kick his legs up and hang up his boots.

Will Ronda Rousey and Crock Lesnar return to UFC?
Will Ronda Rousey be back in WWE for another Wrestlemania?
This question is much easier to answer for one out of these two names, as Brock Lesnar has previously commented that the ship for a UF return for him has sailed. He is now at an age where MMA fighters enjoy retirement. With his age and former issues with diverticulitis, it is increasingly difficult to see him fight in the Octagon.
This does not mean that he cannot make an appearance for the company. The company’s upcoming flagship event, UFC 300 is set to take place in March/April 2024, right in WrestleMania season. With UFC and WWE now under one consortium, would it not be the biggest crossover for Brock Lesnar to appear at UFC 300 days before/after he wrestled in a marquee match at WrestleMania 40?
Something similar applies to Ronda Rousey. The difference is, she can probably still go for a fight or two. While she has stated that she has Hollywood intentions and a desire to have more children, it is equally possible that the trailblazer who was the reason UFC even has a women’s division today will come back for a box-office match at UFC 300.
While none of this is even close to being confirmed as of writing, this fantasy booking scenario is just too juicy for wrestling and MMA fans alike, something we will see more and more of as UFC 300 approaches.
