Who Will Win UCL 2024 Semifinals: With the 2023/24 UEFA Champions League quarter-finals in the history books, we can now look forward to the semis. What four teams have made it to the penultimate stage of the competition and who will likely make it to the final?
The two semi-finals of the UCL will see Bayern Munich take on Real Madrid, and Borussia Dortmund go up against Paris Saint Germain. The first legs of the semis will be played on May 1 and 2 (IST), while the second legs will be played on May 8 and 9.
But before we discuss and predict how these matches will turn out, we must first look back and see how these teams made it this deep into the tournament.

Bayern Munich topped Group A ahead of Copenhagen, Galatasaray, and Manchester United and were undefeated in the group stage. They then defeated Lazio in the Round of 16 3-1 on aggregate after losing the first leg 1-0.
In the quarter-finals, Bayern took on an in-form Arsenal. The 1st leg ended 2-2 at the Emirates Stadium. But the German side pipped their competition 1-0 in the 2nd leg to win 3-2 on aggregate and make it to the semis.
Like Munich, Real Madrid too was undefeated in the Group stage as the 14-time champions finished first in Group C ahead of Napoli, Braga, and Union Berlin. They then won a closely fought Round of 16 match-up against RB Leipzig 2-1 of agg.
In the quarters, Real faced defending champions Manchester City. The 1st leg ended 3-3 at the Santiago Bernabeu. The 2nd leg finished 1-1, which meant we went into penalties, where Los Blancos edged ahead 4-3 to book their tickets to the final four.
Borussia Dortmund finished top of Group F ahead of PSG, AC Milan, and Newcastle United. In the Round of 16, they breezed past PSV 3-1 on agg.
In the quarter-finals, Dortmund actually lost the 1st leg 2-1 against Athletico Madrid. But they rallied in the 2nd leg at home and beat their competition 4-2, winning the tie 5-4.
Last but not least, PSG actually finished second in their group behind Dortmund. In the Round of 16, they thrashed Real Sociedad 4-1.
In the quarter, the French club defeated long-time rivals FC Barcelona. After losing the 1st left 2-3 at home, PSG engineered a ‘Ramontada’ of their own by defeating Barca 4-1 and winning the tie 6-4 on aggregate.
Who Will Win UCL 2024 Semifinals
Now that we have mapped the team’s path into the semi-final, we can now discuss the actual matches –
Bayern Munich vs Real Madrid will be a blockbuster tie between two of the two most historically successful European clubs. Both of these clubs have won this competition in the last five years and are on the list of most UCL title wins.
Bayern are actually having their worst season in a decade as they lost the Bundesliga title for the first time in a decade to first-time winners Bayer Leverkusen.
On the contrary, Real have all but clinched La Liga and are serial Champions League winner. Also seeing the teams they defeated in the quarter-finals to reach the semis, Real Madrid are the clear favourites to win semi-final 1.

Predicting the result of the other semi-final is much more complicated despite the availability of recent data. As alluded to above, PSG and Dortmund were in the same UCL group and have hence played one another twice this season already.
This has not been the best season for the Yellow and Blacks as they are currently fifth in the Bundesliga. The first half of the season was not too good for them. That resulted in PSG beating them 2-0 on Group Stage Matchday 1 of UCL. The two sides then played a 1-1 draw on Matchday 6.
PSG, on the other hand, are on their way to win Ligue 1 comfortably. We also saw how Kylian Mbappe, arguably the best player in the world at the moment, can turn up on big occasions. This arguably makes PSG the favourites to win this tie. Although, this one promises to be a close one.
With all that being said, predicting big games like the UCL semi-finals is never easy as any of these teams can turn up on the day. But for our money, the final of the 2023/24 UEFA Champions League will be between Real Madrid and Paris Saint Germain.
