Gujarat Titans have confirmed former Sri Lankan captain and senior all-rounder Dasun Shanaka as the replacement for Glenn Phillips. Shanaka, who had gone unsold in the IPL 2025 mega auction, has been signed by GT at the price of INR 75 lakhs.
Shanaka is not new to the GT setup. He was part of their squad in IPL 2023, when GT finished as the runners-up, losing the final on the last ball to Chennai Super Kings. In that season, Shanaka played in three games, where he managed to score only 26 runs and didn’t get to bowl a single delivery.
Shanaka is one of the experienced all-rounders in the T20 circuit, with 243 T20 matches under his belt, including 102 T20Is. His biggest achievement was when he led Sri Lanka to the 2022 Asia Cup T20 title in the UAE. Shanaka is known for his hard-hitting lower down the order and his medium pace.
