Which Striker Should Man United Buy In January: English club Manchester United is in deep trouble in the 2024/25 season as we approach the midway point of the season in January. They are currently 13th in the Premier League with only 22 points in 17 games with six wins, seven losses, and four draws.
So it is natural that the Red Devils would want to shore up their side in the upcoming January transfer window. While there are several areas for improvement in this side, manager Ruben Amorim should first focus on signing a new striker for the club as his first transfer move in England.
In the past season and a half, United bought Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee as strike options under Erik Ten Hag. While these two have shown promise, they have not been consistently good. While it seems that Amorim is not keen on playing Marcus Rashford due to unknown issues,
So, here are the three strikers on Manchester United’s radar who could be seen wearing the Manchester red as soon as January 2025. Which Striker Should Man United Buy In January?

3) Randal Kolo Muani
The French striker has been semi-regular at Paris Saint Germain since being bought by the club in 2023 but has not had the best time with the French giants. He has also made several appearances for the French national team, most significantly playing in the 2022 FIFA World Cup final.
While Kolo Muani does not have a top-level output as a striker, he has never been the lead striker of a big side. So it is entirely possible that if he joins United, he will step up to the situation.
PSG is looking to offload the 26-year-old this January, and Old Trafford is looking like the most likely destination for the Frenchman.
2) Victor Osimhen
A couple of seasons ago, Victor Osimhen was the hottest commodity in world football. He tore the house down in Napoli, leading the side to their first Serie A title in over 30 years. Since having a falling out with the Italian club, he has left the side open a loan to Galatasaray in Türkiye.
The Nigerian striker is still among the best in the world. And his recent drama with Napoli means that a big club might get him for less than he is worth. This makes him a prime target for a club in need of a world-class striker, like Manchester United.
At Galatasaray, Osimhen has scored nine and assisted three goals in the Super Lig while scoring three and assisting one in four games of the Europa League.
1) Viktor Gyokeres
Viktor Gyokeres’ stock has risen like Osimhen’s did during his phenomenal 2022-23 season in Serie A. The Sporting Lisbon striker has been one of the best strikers in the world across all competitions this season.
Gyokeres rose to prominence while playing for Sporting Lisbon in Liga Portugal for the past seasons and more. At that time, he was playing under manager Ruben Amorim, who is now overlooking Manchester United. This player-manager relationship makes Gyokeres’ move to United a natural one.
Last season, he scored 29 and assisted 10 goals in the Liga Portugal. This season, he has already scored 18 in 15 games. While in the UEFA Champions League, he has five goals and one assist in six games, including a rare hat-trick against Manchester City.
