The third edition of the Womens Premier League (WPL) is set to be played in the February-March window next year, ahead of the start of the IPL 2025 season, which is slated to kick off on March 14.
The WPL is a five-team event that spans across three weeks. Mumbai Indians, led by Harmanpreet Kaur, won the first edition of the WPL in 2023, and the Smriti Mandhana-led Royal Challengers Bengaluru won the WPL 2024 season. This was the RCB franchise’s maiden trophy as the men’s team never won the IPL or the CLT20.
Coming to the WPL, the BCCI has confirmed the date and venue for the mini-auction. Earlier, the five teams had announced their list of retained and released players.
When and where is the WPL 2025 auction?
The WPL 2025 auction will be held on December 15 in Bengaluru.
What is the purse for the WPL 2025 auction?
Each team will have the budget of INR 15 crore to build their squad. This is an increase from INR 13.5 crore from the last auction.
How many slots are left?
Earlier, 71 players were retained by the five franchises combined. Given that each team can have a maximum of 18 players (max six overseas), 19 slots can be filled in the WPL auction, out of which a maximum of five will be overseas players.

Gujarat Giants have the biggest purse of INR 4.4 crore. Delhi Capitals have the smallest purse of INR 2.5 crore.
