The equation for both teams is simple. RCB need to win by a margin that pips them over CSK on NRR. The margin here is not huge. Assuming RCB scored 200 runs batting first, they need to win by 18 runs, or if they’re chasing 200 runs, they need to get to the target in 18.1 overs.
For CSK, they only need to win the match to reach the playoffs, or if they lose, they need to avoid losing by the above-mentioned margin in order for their NRR to not go below RCB’s.
However, there is also a huge factor in this game: rain. There is a rain threat in Bangalore on Saturday evening, and this could spoil RCB’s dreams. The weather in Bangalore on Saturday is predicted as “heavy rain/thundershowers associated with gusty winds (40–50 kph) are very likely,” by the Indian Meteorological Department.
There has been constant rain in Bangalore over the last week, and the weather was cloudy on the eve of the match.

If the RCB vs CSK match gets rained out, which means there is no result, both teams will get one point each. Thus, CSK, who have 14 points, will enter the playoffs, and RCB will be knocked out.
