Virender Sehwag Takes A Shot At Punjab Kings: Former Indian opener Virender Sehwag recently took a shot at the Punjab Kings franchise while being live while commentating in IPL.
Virender Sehwag was one of the first wave of greats in the league. Already an established name when the league started, the Nawab of Najafgarh was one of the icon players in the first season playing for the Delhi Daredevils.
Sehwag played for the Punjab Kings from 2014 to 2015, which were his last years as a professional cricketer as he retired in the latter years. He recently took a jibe at the franchise, claiming his personal game deteriorated while at the side.

While commentating on Match 6 of IPL 2024 between the Kings and Royal Challengers Bengaluru, Viru took a big shot at PBLS, trolling the franchise for neither winning enough nor playing good enough cricket, saying –
“Jab mein Punjab mein gaya tab mera strike rate kam ho gaya. Woh kehte hai na ke jaisi sangati waisa behave karte ho. Toh waha ki sangati waisi hi thi. Jeet te the nahi, khel te acha the nahi, toh mera game aur thoda kharab ho gaya.”

Punjab Kings is one of the three original franchises in the IPL who have never won the league alongside RCB and Delhi Capitals. But they have also been consistently one of the worst franchises in the league.
It must be noted that during Virender Sehwag’s first year with what then was the Kings XI Punjab in 2014, the franchise reached the final for the first and, as of yet, the only time in their history. He even scored a century in Qualifier 2. However, they went on to lose to Kolkata Knight Riders in the ultimate match.
After two matches in IPL 2024, the Punjab Kings won a match against the Delhi Capitals and lost one against the Royal Challengers Bengaluru. They will next take on the Lucknow Super Giants at their home ground of Ekana Stadium on Saturday, March 30.
