Virat Kohli Video Calls RCB Women Team: India and RCB legend Virat Kohli made a grand gesture by video calling and dancing with the RCB women’s team following Smriti Mandhana’s team’s historic WPL 2024 triumph.
Inspired by a sensational performance from the spin trio of Sophie Molineux, Asha Shobana, and Shreyanka Patil, the RCB women defeated the Meg Lanning-led Delhi Capitals in the WPL 2024 final on Sunday evening at Delhi’s home ground, the Arun Jaitley stadium.
Lanning’s DC have now lost two consecutive WPL finals, having lost to Harmanpreet Kaur’s Mumbai Indians in last season’s final.
The triumph of Mandhana’s RCB is even sweeter considering they had to beat the two favorites, Mumbai and Delhi, in back-to-back matches to clinch the WPL trophy. This ended RCB’s long wait for a trophy. While the men’s team lost three finals in 16 seasons of the IPL, the RCB women’s side got their hands on the WPL trophy in the second season.
Virat Kohli Video Calls RCB Women Team to Celebrate WPL Trophy Win
After the final was concluded, Virat Kohli joined the RCB women’s team in celebration via a video call. The group surrounded the person holding the mobile phone, and everyone cheered and jumped while Kohli shook his leg and raised his hand. It was a great gesture from the 35-year-old RCB giant.

In the post-match press conference, Mandhana spoke about this gesture from Virat Kohli. She said,
“Kohli looked really really happy on the video call. He’s been part of this franchise for the last 16-17 years, so I could see that happiness on his face”.
Shafali Verma had gotten Delhi off to a strong start with 44 runs off 27 balls. However, Sophie Molineux turned the game on its head in the 8th over with three strikes, starting with Verma, followed by Jemimah Rodrigues and Alice Capsey.
From thereon, RCB choked DC, with Shobana taking two wickets and Patil grabbing a four-wicket haul, including Lanning’s scalp, to restrict them to 113. RCB chased the target down in 19.3 overs with 8 wickets in hand.
The IPL 2024 will start on March 22, with Kohli’s RCB taking on CSK in Chepauk.
