Virat Kohli Scolds Karn Sharma On The Field: Royal Challengers Bengaluru star player Virat Kohli lost his cool at teammate Karn Sharma for conceding a six in his first over against the Gujarat Titans.
RCB is taking on GT in Match 45 of IPL 2024 in Ahmeabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium. The home team won the toss and chose to bat first. This decision did not give them the best start to the match, as they lost Wriddhiman Saha’s wicket in the first over.
After making 42 runs in the powerplay, the Titans lost their captain Shubman Gill’s wicket in the seventh over.
Rcb introduced their third spinner into the attack when Karn Sharma came in to bowl the eighth over with Sai Sudharsan and Shahrusk Khan on the field.
The first four balls of the over were great; Karn gave the delivery some flight and conceded just two runs in his first four balls. But the fifth ball bowled towards Sudharsan’s leg was deposited into the stands at mid-wicket.
The over did end poorly for Sharma, who was then hit for a four on the last ball by Sai, making it a 12-run over.
Glenn Maxwell then bowled his second over in the ninth and conceded 13 as these two overs shifted the momentum of the inning.
Virat Kohli Scolds Karn Sharma On The Field
In the strategic timeout after the ninth over, Kohli was seen scolding Karn Sharma, seemingly for the six he was hit for. The bowler had no choice but to listen to the veteran.
Sai Sudharsan and Shahrukh Khan went on to score half-centuries, taking GT to 200 runs in 20 overs. While Khan scored 58-off-30, Sudharsan scored 84 runs in 49 balls.
Karn Sharma played the first match of the season for RCB against the Chennai Super Kings but was dropped thereafter. He was then brought back to the side against the Kolkata Knight Riders, where he nearly won the game with the bat. He has been in the playing XI since, playing his fourth match in IPL 2024.
As for RCB, they are dead last in the league table with just two wins in eight matches. However, a win in their last match against Sunrisers Hyderabad has given the team and its fans some hope. But a single loss from this point would practically end their playoff chances.
After facing GT today, the Royal Challengers will have a rematch with the Gujarat Titans on May 4, but this time in Bengaluru’s Chinnaswamy Stadium.
