Despite Kohli scoring the most runs by a batter in the IPL, his team hasn’t been having a nice season so far. RCB could only win three times and sits at the bottom of the table with just 6 points. The blame, as always, was thrown at Virat Kohli.

This time, critics held Virat to the gun regarding his strike rate. According to them, Virat Kohli is too slow for the shortest format of the game. Some of them even said that the legendary batter should not be picked for the upcoming T20 World Cup in 2024.

After the swashbuckling innings that gave RCB a huge win against Shubman Gill’s GT, Virat Kohli lashed out at the critics, saying that playing on the pitch and talking about games sitting in a box are very different. Kohli also said that he plays for the team and not for the strike- rate.
“All people who talk about strike rates and me not playing spin well are the ones who love talking about this stuff [numbers]. But for me, it’s just about winning the game for the team. And there is a reason why you have done it for 15 years. Because you have done this day in and out. You have won games for your teams. I am not quite sure. If you have not been in that situation yourself, to sit and to speak about the game from a box. I don’t really think its the same thing.
So, for me, it’s about just doing my job. People can talk about their ideas and assumptions of the game, but those who have done it day in and out know what’s happening, and it’s kind of a muscle memory for me now,”
Kohli said after the match.
