Virat Kohli ICC ODI Ranking: Superstar India batsman Virat Kohli has made a jump of one position from 4th to 3rd in the latest ICC ODI batsman ranking as he targets the number 1 ODI spot in what is the last phase of his international career.
Arguably the greatest ODI batsman of all time, Virat Kohli has been at another peak in his glorious career. He is the second-leading ODI men’s run-scorer in 2023 with 1377 runs at an average of 72 with 6 centuries and 8 fifties in 24 knocks. Only Shubman Gill, with 1584 runs at 63, has more ODI runs this year than Kohli.
The 34-year-old India mega-star was in sensational form in the 2023 World Cup. Kohli finished the tournament as not only the leading run-scorer of this edition but also broke Sachin Tendulkar’s record of 673 runs from the 2003 World Cup.
For amassing 765 runs at an unbelievable average of 95 and notching up 3 centuries and 6 fifties, including one in the final, Virat Kohli was given the Player of the Tournament award. But his face remained bereft of any happiness while receiving the award as India failed to lock in the World Cup trophy with a 6-wicket defeat to Australia in Ahmedabad.

Just 2 rating points behind Gill is the former Pakistan captain Babar Azam, who scored 320 runs at an average of 40 in the World Cup, raising 4 half-centuries, but he failed to convert any of them into a three-figure score.
India’s captain and opener, Rohit Sharma, too, improved his ranking by one spot, moving up to the 4th position after a splendid World Cup. Rohit was the second-highest run-scorer with 597 runs at 54, cracking 3 fifties and 1 century, and a couple of blazing 40s in the knockouts.
