At the age of 36, Kohli still looks like a player in his physical prime. The former national team captain might have struggled for form in recent years, but he always bounces back in style. For India, he was in fine form in the recent ICC Champions Trophy 2025, even scoring a century against arch-rivals Pakistan.
Kohli has had a good past few years in a blue jersey. He was the Player of the Match in the final of the 2024 T20 World Cup as India became the T20 world champions for the second time, while Virat won the trophy for the first time. He then won CT 2025 with India.

The one white-ball trophy that has eluded India in recent years is the ODI World Cup. India hosted the 2023 World Cup and was the favourite to win it all. They thrashed all the teams en route to the final, only to lose the championship match to Australia.
While Virat has won the ODI World Cup in his career, the 2011 version that took place in India as well, that was as an emerging player in a team filled with legends. However, he has never won this competition as the face of the team.
Virat Kohli Confirms Playing In 2027 World Cup
Virat Kohli is now eyeing the 2027 ODI World Cup, which is to be played in South Africa. A video recently emerged of Kohli at a conference-type event. In the viral video, the legendary cricketer was asked about the next big step in his career, to which he said trying to win the next World Cup.
“The next big step. I don’t know, maybe try to win the next World Cup,” he said.
With Kohli, along with Rohit Sharma and Ravindra Jadeja, having already retired from T20I after winning the 2024 T20 WC, the next World Cup for him will be the 2027 ODI edition. This confirms that he will be available for selection for the tournament and will most likely play in it as well.
Virat Kohli is currently playing for the Royal Challengers Bengaluru in IPL 2025. He even scored a scintillating half-century in the opening game against the Kolkata Knight Riders. He will next be seen on the TV screens when RCB takes on the Gujarat Titans on April 2 at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.
